El receptor W406 es un receptor AIS sintonizable, diseñado específicamente para aplicaciones MOB en el Grupo B de AMRD, pero también se puede utilizar como un receptor AIS programable de 2 canales.
La reciente normativa AMRD divide los dispositivos MSLD en dos grupos.
El grupo A define los radiolocalizadores capaces de operar simultáneamente en modo DSC y AIS.
El grupo B define los dispositivos de licencia libre que pueden utilizarse entre MOB y embarcación.
Fácil de instalar, el receptor W406 puede recibir mensajes transmitidos por dispositivos Wamblee MOB W422, procesar la información recibida y convertirla en mensajes AIVDM que pueden visualizarse en cualquier plotter con interfaz NMEA 0283.
El W406 también se puede configurar como un receptor AIS1 y AIS2 simple, utilizable con cualquier plotter NMEA0183.
La información recibida (como la alarma y la posición del náufrago) puede visualizarse directamente en la pantalla de su sistema cartográfico. El receptor requiere la instalación de una antena VHF.
